Location: Remote (UK-wide, except London)
Occasional on-site work required (client / team needs)
Base salary: £115,000 – £140,000 + bonus (DOE)

This is a senior, influential role suited to an experienced product leader who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, delivery, and client partnership.
The Role
As a Principal Product Leader (Principal Consultant), you will play a leading role across one or more complex, multi-disciplinary agile delivery teams. You’ll own products end-to-end, shape delivery approaches, influence senior stakeholders, and act as a visible leader within the consulting community.
You will balance hands-on product leadership with strategic oversight, commercial awareness, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, including vision, roadmap, backlog quality, and overall product maturity
- Lead and support Product Managers, Product Consultants, and Business Analysts, ensuring effective discovery, prioritisation, and delivery practices
- Shape delivery approaches in collaboration with Delivery Leads and Solution Architects
- Engage with senior client stakeholders, gaining buy-in, managing expectations, and navigating complexity
- Lead or support product-level commercial activity, including identifying opportunities and contributing to negotiations
- Facilitate workshops with senior stakeholders, balancing competing priorities and achieving alignment
- Champion strong product management and user-centred practices across teams
- Act as a leader within the consulting capability, contributing to internal initiatives and capability development
- Line manage, coach, and develop a small number of consultants, supporting performance and career growth
- Manage scope within commercial and delivery constraints such as budget, timelines, and quality expectations
About You
You’ll bring a blend of strategic thinking, delivery excellence, and consulting confidence. You’re comfortable leading in ambiguity and influencing at senior levels.
Essential experience:
- Significant experience in consulting or client-facing product roles
- Proven background in bespoke software delivery within agile, multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience owning and shaping product backlogs, ensuring high-quality, well-refined outcomes
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, from discovery through live operations
- Experience creating goal-oriented roadmaps, focusing on MVP and value delivery
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coach product teams
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including senior and executive-level engagement
- Commercial awareness and experience contributing to revenue-generating activity
- Confidence facilitating workshops and aligning diverse stakeholder viewpoints
- Solid understanding of relevant technologies and architecture concepts
Desirable experience:
- Public sector or highly regulated environment experience
- Experience working closely with UCD, research, and design disciplines
