Security Consultant – Public Sector & Defence

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

Location: London (hybrid)

The Role

As a Security Consultant, you will play a key role in designing, advising, and delivering secure IT solutions across complex environments. You’ll work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure security is embedded from strategy through to implementation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing secure architectures for large-scale digital transformation programmes
  • Advising clients on IT security strategies, risk management, and mitigation approaches
  • Supporting compliance with industry standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and PCI-DSS
  • Conducting threat modelling and identifying vulnerabilities within system architectures
  • Communicating security risks and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contributing to innovative approaches to solving emerging security challenges

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for individuals with a strong foundation in cybersecurity and a passion for improving security outcomes across critical sectors.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and risk management
  • Experience applying security controls within architecture and solution design
  • Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), single sign-on (SSO), privileged access management (PAM), network security, and encryption
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure, system design, and architectural methodologies
  • Understanding of threat modelling and secure design principles
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience in cloud and/or network security
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, SABSA, or equivalent
  • Current UK Government Security Clearance (SC/DV), or willingness to undergo clearance
