A well-funded AI and Defence technology business is building one of the most exciting engineering capabilities in the UK.

Backed by significant investment and experiencing rapid growth, they are delivering advanced AI solutions across Defence, National Security and Public Sector programmes, helping organisations tackle complex, mission-critical challenges through Machine Learning and Large Language Models.

As part of this growth, they are looking for Senior Machine Learning Engineers to join a high-calibre team shaping the future of AI within secure environments.

The Role

You'll work alongside some of the strongest engineers, data specialists and technical leaders in the sector, helping design, develop and deploy production-grade AI solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and deploying Machine Learning and LLM-powered applications
• Developing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions
• Evaluating model performance and addressing failure modes
• Testing, troubleshooting and improving AI systems
• Working closely with software and data engineering teams
• Helping drive engineering best practices across AI delivery

What We're Looking For

• Strong Python development experience
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals and statistical methods
• Experience working with LLMs and Transformer architectures
• Knowledge of AI evaluation, optimisation and deployment
• Experience developing production-grade AI solutions
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience delivering projects within:

• Defence
• National Security
• Public Sector
• Secure Government environments

Additional experience in AI Safety, Explainable AI, MLOps, AWS, Azure or GCP would be highly beneficial.
