This is a key opportunity to embed yourself within a high-performing tech function that is rapidly growing within a traditionally product and delivery-focused organisation. You’ll bring your experience in modern Python development and cloud-native engineering (AWS) to help build impactful digital services with real-world outcomes.

As a Senior Python Engineer, you will operate as a technical expert within an agile squad. You’ll lead the development of cloud-first solutions, guide best practices, and mentor more junior engineers. You’ll work across full-stack environments, with the chance to influence architecture, improve DevOps maturity, and ensure scalability and performance across mission-critical services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable serverless applications in AWS.
  • Translate business needs into robust, secure, and efficient software solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and development pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and delivery leads to ensure services meet real user needs.
  • Present technical concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to growing the internal capability.
  • Promote engineering excellence through blog writing, community engagement, or internal initiatives.

Required Experience:

  • Expert-level Python development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS serverless tools and services (e.g. Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Proven track record delivering RESTful APIs and microservice-based solutions.
  • Full stack development exposure – HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Node).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools – Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM.
  • Hands-on CI/CD experience with tools like Jenkins, CodeBuild, or Azure DevOps.
  • Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban) and TDD.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience working on central government or healthcare-related digital services.
  • Exposure to service design and user-centred design practices.

Benefits Include:

  • 25 days annual leave (+ statutory holidays)
  • Pension scheme – 6% employer contribution
  • Health – Private medical, dental options and critical illness/life cover
  • Dog -friendly offices, snacks, socials, and more

This is a great chance to take your Python and AWS skills into a rewarding, mission-driven environment, while helping to shape and grow the wider engineering community within a consultancy known for delivery excellence.
