Senior Test Specialist

Location: Basingstoke (Hybrid – 3 days on site per week)

Salary: Up to £48,000 (depending on experience)

Clearance: Active SC required to start, with DV clearance provided

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Test Specialist to join a highly skilled team working on critical national infrastructure projects. This role is focused on manual infrastructure testing within secure environments and requires experience with Windows Server and networking technologies. Experience in Agile environments and exposure to software testing will be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, execute and report on manual tests for infrastructure and network systems.
• Collaborate closely with delivery teams and stakeholders across Agile projects.
• Produce clear, high-quality test artefacts including test plans, test scripts, defect reports, and test summary documentation.
• Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to continuous improvement within the test practice.
• Ensure test coverage across functional and non-functional requirements for infrastructure platforms.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Strong manual testing experience focused on infrastructure environments.
• Practical experience with technologies such as Windows Server 2019, Active Directory, SCCM, SCOM, and VMware.
• Good understanding of networking principles.
• Familiarity with Agile, V-Model or Waterfall delivery methodologies.
• ISTQB Foundation certification (or higher).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Must hold active SC clearance and be eligible for DV clearance.

Desirable:

• Exposure to application/software testing.
• Experience with JIRA, SQL, NXLog, McAfee, Cisco (ISE/Viptela), Juniper networking, or KeePass.
• Understanding of version control systems and test metrics reporting.
