Technical Architect

Technical Architect – Newcastle

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite)

Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 + bonus + package

We’re working with a leading global consultancy currently looking to hire a Technical Architect to join their growing technology team in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone stepping into architecture from a strong software engineering or DevOps background, looking to gain further exposure across large-scale enterprise transformation programmes.

This role would suit candidates who have built solid hands-on technical experience within software development or DevOps environments and have more recently moved into architecture-focused responsibilities.

The Role

As a Technical Architect, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering technical solutions across a variety of complex client engagements. You’ll work closely with engineering teams, stakeholders, and delivery functions to define architecture approaches, support solution design, and provide technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle.

This is a broad architecture role with exposure across applications, infrastructure, delivery, and solution design.

What They’re Looking For:

Essential Experience

  • Around 5+ years of overall technical experience
  • Strong background in either:
  • Full-stack software engineering
  • DevOps / platform engineering
  • Commercial experience working with enterprise technology environments
  • Experience translating technical and business requirements into solution designs
  • Strong understanding of architecture principles, design patterns, and delivery methodologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Architecture Experience

  • Ideally 12–18 months operating in an Architecture capacity
  • Exposure to real-world architecture delivery rather than purely theoretical or governance-focused work
  • Experience supporting technical decision-making and solution design activities

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within Agile or DevOps-led delivery environments
  • Exposure to cloud technologies and modern engineering practices
  • Previous experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers
  • Experience presenting solutions to senior stakeholders or governance forums

Additional Information

  • Hybrid working model with 3 days per week onsite in Newcastle
  • One-stage interview process conducted over Microsoft Teams
  • Candidates must be eligible to undergo Security Clearance and therefore require 5+ years UK address history
