Project Manager
Required: Project Manager, minimum 5 years experience, delivering software solutions for the UK Government, must have active SC Clearance
Our client, a leading organisation delivering critical digital services to the UK public sector, is seeking an experienced Contract Project Manager to lead the successful implementation of complex software solutions across government programmes.
This role is being advertised by a specialist recruitment consultancy on behalf of our client. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-impact digital initiatives supporting government transformation and service modernisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end software implementation projects across government departments and agencies.
- Manage full project lifecycle including planning, governance, delivery, and transition to service.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including technical architects, developers, product owners, and external suppliers.
- Ensure delivery against scope, timeline, budget, and quality objectives.
- Engage with senior government stakeholders and programme boards, providing clear reporting and risk management.
- Implement and maintain strong project governance aligned with public sector delivery frameworks.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering software implementation projects as a Project Manager.
- Proven track record of working on UK Government or public sector programmes.
- Experience managing complex digital or technology delivery projects.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage third-party suppliers and multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
Essential Requirements
- Active SC (Security Check) Clearance.
- Previous experience working with UK Government departments or agencies.
- Strong knowledge of project delivery frameworks such as PRINCE2, Agile, or hybrid delivery models.
- Excellent communication, governance, and reporting skills.
Desirable
- Experience delivering projects within digital transformation programmes.
- Background in government digital standards or GDS-aligned delivery.
- Relevant certifications (PRINCE2 Practitioner, AgilePM, MSP, or similar).
