Role Description The Retail IT Engineer role is a contract, on-site position based anywhere across England or Wales. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining retail IT hardware, including EPOS systems, PED devices, servers, and networking equipment in store environments. The Retail IT Engineer will respond to service calls, diagnose and resolve technical issues, and ensure minimal disruption to store operations during maintenance or project work. Responsibilities include performing equipment upgrades and rollouts, completing site surveys and documentation, and adhering to PCI/P2PE and security standards. The role also requires close collaboration with project managers, store teams, and other engineers, as well as accurate reporting of work completed and inventory used. Typical day will be on site for 8hrs, starting at 8am.

Qualifications - Requirements

  • Experience with retail IT environments, including EPOS systems, PED devices, and related peripherals.
  • Strong hardware and networking skills, such as installation, cabling, basic switching and routing, and device configuration.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting operating systems, retail applications, and connectivity issues in store environments.
  • Understanding of PCI/P2PE compliance, data security practices, and safe handling of payment devices.
  • Ability to work on-site in retail locations, often during out-of-hours or weekend windows, and travel within the Greater Lincoln Area.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with store staff, project teams, and clients.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to follow documented procedures and complete accurate reports.
  • Previous experience in field engineering or retail IT support; relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) are an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Own vehicle (mileage paid after 100 miles per day)
