Location: UK Remote (occasional travel for workshops and stakeholder meetings)

Contract Type: Outside IR35

Length of Contract: Initial 3-months, with a view to extend

Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support the development of advanced analytical models that deliver meaningful commercial insights and support strategic decision-making.

This is an opportunity to work on a unique analytics programme involving large-scale commercial datasets, predictive modelling and the identification of external factors that influence business performance.

The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with commercial awareness, helping to transform complex data into practical recommendations that drive measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and performance drivers.
  • Develop and implement statistical and predictive models.
  • Conduct regression analysis and forecasting exercises.
  • Design approaches for sourcing, cleansing and integrating multiple data sources.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear business recommendations.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand objectives and define analytical approaches.
  • Produce high-quality documentation, visualisations and supporting analysis.
  • Support the ongoing refinement and evolution of analytical models, including potential machine learning applications.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist, Predictive Analytics Consultant, Quantitative Analyst or similar analytical role.
  • Strong background in statistical modelling and data analysis.
  • Experience developing predictive and forecasting models.
  • Strong Python and data analytics capability.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience turning data analysis into actionable business recommendations.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with weather, climate or environmental datasets.
  • Forecasting or risk analytics experience.
  • Machine learning model development.
  • Commercial performance analytics.
  • Demand forecasting and predictive modelling.
  • Experience working with Snowflake or similar data warehouse platforms.
