The opportunity
We are supporting a confidential customer project delivering an Ericsson Private 5G deployment within a major UK manufacturing environment. The assignment requires an experienced RAN engineer to support hardware deployment, commissioning, integration, acceptance testing and early-life stabilisation of an indoor RAN and Radio Dot solution.
Key responsibilities
- Install, inspect and verify Ericsson baseband units, indoor radio units and existing Radio Dots alongside the site delivery team.
- Validate grounding, power, cabling and GNSS synchronisation connectivity.
- Perform Day 0 and Day 1 commissioning activities through to visibility of the network controller, baseband units, indoor radio units and Radio Dots within the cloud network-management portal.
- Support network-controller-to-RAN integration and verify device registration.
- Validate radio configuration, operational status and SIM onboarding.
- Execute throughput, latency, mobility, handover, redundancy and failover testing.
- Support subscriber-data and SIM-provisioning validation, acceptance documentation and defect closure.
- Troubleshoot RAN hardware and integration issues, isolate faults and escalate OEM issues to the appropriate Ericsson support teams.
- Support network stabilisation, KPI reviews and issue resolution during hypercare.
Essential experience
- At least five years of Ericsson RAN engineering experience.
- Hands-on Ericsson baseband unit commissioning experience.
- Experience deploying and integrating indoor radio units and Radio Dot systems.
- Strong understanding of LTE and 5G RAN fundamentals.
- Experience supporting acceptance testing and formal network handover.
- Understanding of mobility and handover validation.
Desirable experience
- Experience with Ericsson Enterprise Private 5G solutions.
- Private network deployment experience within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of GNSS synchronisation.
- Experience supporting early-life network stabilisation and KPI reviews.
Key deliverables
- Baseband units and indoor radio units commissioned and integrated.
- Radio Dot verification completed.
- Acceptance testing supported through completion and defect closure.
- Mobility and handover readiness demonstrated.
- Deployment supported through stabilisation and operational handover.
Engagement details
- Initial 4-6 month contract, with potential for extension as the wider programme develops.
- Site-based delivery in Solihull within a manufacturing environment.
