This entry-level role focuses on learning core monitoring tools, assisting with alert reviews, and contributing to service reliability under supervision. It offers a pathway to develop technical skills and gain exposure to enterprise IT operations while supporting the wide monitoring team.Day-to-day, you’ll develop in a role where you will be monitoring platforms, infrastructures & applications, general infrastructure maintenance, cloud monitoring, patching & vulnerability scanning and user experience monitoring across an enterprise IT environment with a supportive team.Your responsibilities will include:Assisting with the setup and basic operation of monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, and Azure Monitor maintaining tool stability and sharing observationsReviewing alerts and logs with guidance to support incident identification escalating any issues appropriatelySupporting routine checks on virtual server estates and system software assisting with patching and availabilityUsing cloud-native tools to support visibility across hybrid environments and participating in cloud monitoring activities under supervisionUsing basic scripting to automate simple monitoring tasks and learning and applying automation techniques to improve efficiencyParticipating in patching and vulnerability scanning activities under supervision using tools such as Qualys, Nessus, or Microsoft Defender with guidance from senior analystsEssential experience of the Associate Monitoring Analyst:Exposure to monitoring tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar platforms through training or hands-on supportFamiliarity with virtualisation platforms and cloud servicesPrevious experience working in a 2nd line/3rd line IT roleBasic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell) and a proactive attitude towards learningIntroductory understanding of cloud monitoring and hybrid infrastructureStrong willingness to learn and contribute to service operationsEssential qualifications for the Associate Monitoring Analyst:We value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.This role is 37 hours per week based at either our Malvern, Farnborough or Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.To cover shift patterns between 0730-1830 GMT you may be asked to work at specific times.As part of a commitment to maintaining high service availability and rapid incident response, this role will be required to participate in an on-call rota. This responsibility reflects the trust placed in the role to act swiftly and decisively when critical systems are impacted.Multi-SiteQinetiQ operates state-of-the-art facilities across the UK that focus on defence, security and technology innovation.
