Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research – designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.Take the next step in your career.The roleThe Core Infrastructure Engineering team owns and operates the foundational services that G-Research engineers rely on every day, from infrastructure automation and CI tooling to the platforms that keep the business running.As the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of infrastructure engineers, setting technical direction while ensuring the delivery of reliable, well-automated services. This is a leadership-first role with meaningful technical involvement. You will stay close to the technology to guide architectural decisions and unblock your team, while focusing most of your time on leadership, delivery and stakeholder engagement.You will bring experience leading infrastructure or platform teams, a strong understanding of the services within your team's portfolio and a passion for developing engineers while driving operational excellence.Key responsibilities of the role include:Leading, developing and growing a team of infrastructure engineersSetting technical direction and priorities across the team's service portfolio, including TFE, Active Directory, Jenkins, inventory tooling and Bastion HostsDriving infrastructure as code adoption and the evolution of AI-driven infrastructure managementEnsuring the availability, performance and operational health of core servicesActing as the escalation point for critical incidents and service issuesBalancing operational delivery with long-term improvements and automation initiativesHiring, onboarding and developing new team membersRepresenting the team's roadmap and capabilities to stakeholders across the businessRemoving blockers, managing dependencies and enabling effective deliveryWorking with stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable automation solutionsImproving engineering processes, documentation and standards across the teamWho are we looking for The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:Proven experience managing infrastructure or platform engineering teamsStrong technical background in Windows and Linux infrastructureUnderstanding of CI platforms, infrastructure as code and infrastructure automationAbility to balance people management, technical decisions and stakeholder communicationExperience improving operational processes, including incident management, change control and on-call practicesTrack record of coaching and developing engineersClear, pragmatic communication style with ability to engage technical and non-technical audiencesDesirable experience:Experience with inventory or CMDB platforms, Terraform Enterprise, vendor management or service management frameworksWhy join us Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonusLunch provided via Just Eat for Business and dedicated barista bar30 days’ annual leave9% company pension contributionsInformal dress code and excellent work-life balanceComprehensive healthcare and life assuranceCycle-to-work schemeMonthly company eventsG-Research is committed to cultivating and preserving an inclusive work environment.
