We are looking for a Core Test Methods Engineer to have the capability to cover software, hardware, integration, system and vehicle level testing for traction inverters and other power electronics components. The PE Validation team is responsible to determine the appropriate content for internal and supplier test implementation and for supporting the application teams with test delivery resources. As the team expands, we need additional engineers to apply best-in-class test techniques on both our supplier-developed content and our in-house designs. We maintain a mindset of continuous improvement as well as increasing our partnership with our internal and external stakeholders. The objective is to deliver levels of reliability and robustness exceeding anything that we have seen before. The arrival of the right people will provide input into the elimination of defects in future Jaguar Land Rover vehicle model years. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Support the test process during development and production release phases for Power Electronic components with application on numerous electrified Powertrain programmesEnsure robust test methods are developed and realised to achieve Program milestones and targets (Risk Identification, Quality / Functional defect detection & removal, and timing)Work with a ‘Statement of Requirements’ and highlight our test needs during supplier sourcing discussionsFamiliarity with requirements management toolchain and what makes a good requirementReview of existing test methods against requirements and lessons learnt. Develop/customise test methods to align with new/modified requirements and continuous improvementSupport the commission of new and modified test cases via the test implementation engineers covering component software test benches and load rigs and systems-level testingSupport the test process maturation as the business migrates from an established local process in IBM DOORS to a new business-wide test and requirements toolsetInteract with the application teams and facility teams to ensure the equipment needed for application tests is available on timeMentor and coordinate team members, including junior engineers and apprentices, some of whom will be working from different locations / different time zones Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential – Experience in software engineering, electrical engineering or other related mechanical / mechatronics technical qualificationsExperience in automotive powertrain engineering in a test environment covering software and load rigsFamiliarity with electrical, EMC, climatic, environmental, and lifetime test techniquesAn understanding of the correlation process between real-world use profiles and accelerated testingUnderstanding of control systems hardware, sensor technology, control software and diagnostics Experience in test virtualisation, CAE correlation, component rig test, system test and vehicle testingExperience in operating and debugging dSpace HiL rigs in powertrain applications. Preferably with PE components (inverters, DCDC converters & chargers)Experience in writing Design Validation Methods (DVM) from the requirements and also peer review of requirements during the requirements maturation processStrong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross-functional team Desirable – Knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologiesUnderstanding of regulatory needs applicable to BEV and PHEV solutionsExperience with complex high voltage systemsExperience in test automation scriptingExperience in defining and/or using appropriate analysis tools to optimise and verify thermal performance and hardware reliability/ durabilityWide knowledge of electronic devices and circuits and their application, including design for EMC and circuit board robustness for condensation SO WHY US?
