Datacentre Operations Engineer + Networking – Quant Trading Infrastructure180,000-220,000 totalLondon – On-site Quant Capital is working with a leading global quantitative trading firm to find a Datacentre Operations Engineer to join their London infrastructure team. This hands-on role supports the physical infrastructure behind a low-latency trading platform, including servers, switches, and structured cabling across multiple colocation sites.You’ll work closely with internal teams and external vendors, handling hardware deployment, Linux OS installation, network troubleshooting, and rack-level diagnostics.Responsibilities:Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, switches, and structured cablingBuild and upgrade rack infrastructure, including power and cooling planningInstall and configure Linux operating systems for production networksTroubleshoot dark fibre connectivity and hardware issuesCoordinate third-party access, RMAs, deliveries, and cross-connectsMaintain documentation, inventory, and data centre standardsSupport physical layer troubleshooting and hardware escalationsTravel to local and remote colocation sites as requiredRequired Experience:Proven data centre experience in colocation, trading environmentPractical Linux system administration and OS installation skillsNetworking skills strongly preferred (logging into network devices)Strong knowledge of structured cabling (copper and fibre) and rack designUnderstanding of routing and switching (BGP, L2/L3)Experience with hardware components including NICs, SSDs, FPGAs, GPUs, and transceiversAbility to work independently under pressure and manage vendors and logisticsWillingness to cover weekends and holidays on a rotaThis is a rare opportunity to join the core infrastructure team of a top quant firm with competitive compensation and a technically challenging environment.
