70000 - 85000 United KingdomSoftware & Infrastructure PermanentSenior/Lead Embedded Linux Software EngineerWe are recruiting on behalf of a leading global technology organisation for an experienced Senior/Lead Embedded Linux Software Engineer to lead the development of Linux-based software for advanced communication and embedded systems.This role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership and mentoring of a small engineering team.Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of Linux user-space applications and system services.Develop C/C++ software for system configuration, monitoring and diagnostics.Design APIs and services for hardware control and telemetry.Provide technical leadership across software architecture and development.Conduct code reviews and design discussions.Mentor and support a team of 3–4 embedded software engineers.Collaborate with platform and hardware engineering teams.Maintain CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.Key Requirements8+ years’ experience in Linux software development.3–4 years’ technical leadership or mentoring experience.Strong C/C++ development experience in Linux user-space environments.Strong knowledge of Linux system programming, including POSIX APIs, sockets and multithreading.Experience developing Linux system services or applications.Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams.Strong Git and CI/CD experience.Python or scripting experience for automation and testing.Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is advantageous.Experience with embedded Linux, hardware interaction, FPGA-based systems, telecoms or networking platforms would be beneficial.Technology StackLinux | C/C++ | Python | Git | CI/CD | gdb | strace | perfThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Linux engineer looking to combine hands-on development with technical leadership within an innovative technology environment.
