As part of this journey, they’re looking for a Senior GCP Data Platform Engineer to take ownership of the infrastructure, automation and platform capabilities that underpin the wider Data Engineering function.This is a senior individual contributor role suited to someone who enjoys building, owning and evolving cloud platforms. You’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, drive technical improvements and deliver outcomes without requiring constant oversight, whilst working closely with Data Engineering and Platform teams.The environment is highly collaborative and pragmatic, with a strong focus on enabling teams through automation, self-service tooling and engineering best practice.What You’ll Be DoingDesign, build and maintain cloud infrastructure within GCP using Infrastructure as CodeOwn and evolve Terraform modules, deployment standards and platform patternsBuild and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support data platform deliverySupport and optimise core GCP services used across the data estateImplement monitoring, alerting, logging and observability capabilitiesDefine and maintain secure IAM, access control and governance practicesDevelop reusable tools and automation that improve developer experienceSupport integration and migration activities between Azure and GCP where requiredCreate and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational runbooksPartner with Data Engineers and Platform teams to ensure solutions align with wider engineering standardsWhat We’re Looking ForStrong hands-on experience operating and engineering platforms within GCPExcellent Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertiseExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines from the ground upStrong DevOps and platform engineering backgroundExperience supporting production cloud environmentsKnowledge of networking, security and cloud infrastructure best practicesExperience implementing monitoring, logging and alerting solutionsAbility to work autonomously, make informed decisions and take ownership of technical deliveryStrong stakeholder management and communication skillsPragmatic approach to engineering, balancing technical excellence with business needsDesirableExperience with Backstage or similar developer enablement toolingExperience with BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Dataflow or DataplexExposure to both GCP and Azure environmentsExperience supporting modern data platforms or analytics environmentsExperience working within regulated industries such as insurance or financial servicesWhy Apply This is an opportunity to join a business that is investing heavily in its data platform and cloud capabilities.
