NegotiableBasingstoke, England Permanent We're looking for a highly experienced Senior Backend / Full Stack Engineer to join a growing engineering team building and evolving a complex, production-grade fintech platform.This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute from day one-designing architecture, building scalable systems, and delivering high-quality features across a modern full stack. You'll play a key part in shaping a platform that powers onboarding, payments, and compliance workflows across multiple markets.What You'll Be DoingBackend & Full Stack DevelopmentDevelop and enhance features within a NestJS / TypeScript backendDesign and implement scalable, secure RESTful APIsWork with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and optimise performanceContribute to frontend features where appropriate (React Native)Architecture & Engineering ExcellenceCollaborate on system architecture and promote clean, modular designWrite high-quality, well-tested code (unit, integration, e2e) using JestMaintain CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based environmentsUphold best practices in code quality, testing, and performanceIntegrations & ComplianceBuild and maintain integrations with payment providers, identity verification, and open banking platformsWork within regulated environments, supporting KYC/AML workflowsHandle event-driven systems, webhooks, and idempotent processingCollaboration & LeadershipWork closely with product, design, and QA teams to deliver reliable releasesContribute to documentation and technical decision-makingMentor and support other engineersTech StackBackend: TypeScript, Node.js, NestJSFrontend: React Native, ReduxData: TypeORM, PostgreSQL / MySQLCloud & DevOps: AWS (Cognito), Docker, GitLab CI/CDTesting & Docs: Jest, Swagger/OpenAPIIntegrations: Payments, Open Banking, Identity/KYC servicesWhat We're Looking ForEssential Skills10+ years in software engineeringStrong expertise in TypeScript and Node.jsProven experience with NestJS and RESTful API designDeep understanding of relational databases and ORM toolsExperience with authentication (JWT, identity providers such as Cognito)Strong testing mindset with experience using JestConfidence working with Docker and CI/CD pipelinesIf you are a skilled Senior Backend Engineer with a passion for fintech, we would love to hear from you.
