Legal Counsel

Commercial Counsel

2–6 PQE | West Midlands | Hybrid - 1 day in the office

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Counsel to join the established legal team of a successful and growing international business.

The business is performing strongly, with significant investment and ambitious growth plans over the next 3–5 years. Part of a major US-listed international group, it operates across a complex and varied landscape, giving the legal team exposure to an unusually broad range of commercial matters.

The Role

This is a genuinely varied commercial position where you will work closely with stakeholders across the business, advising on a broad range of contracts and wider legal matters.

Your work will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
  • Advising on sales, supply and procurement agreements
  • Supporting major projects, bids and tenders
  • Advising on IT and technology contracts as part of a significant digital transformation programme
  • Supporting a growing range of logistics and operational contracts
  • Working on projects across areas including nuclear, renewables, water and major infrastructure
  • Providing pragmatic day-to-day commercial legal advice
  • Getting involved in broader legal matters and projects as they arise

This isn't a repetitive contracts role. The business is complex and the legal team is involved in its more interesting and challenging matters, so there is plenty of opportunity to think on your feet, take ownership and broaden your experience.

The Team

You will join a long-standing and highly regarded in-house legal team with specialists across commercial, compliance, disputes and property.

The lawyers have excellent relationships with senior management and are trusted to take ownership of their work. There is also a strong emphasis on training, development and progression.

About You

We are looking for a lawyer at around 2–6 years' PQE with good commercial contracts experience, gained either in-house or within private practice.

You should be commercial, pragmatic and confident, comfortable taking ownership of contractual matters and keen to work across a broad range of legal and commercial issues.

Package & Flexibility

The role offers an excellent package including 15% bonus, car allowance, pension, family healthcare and 25 days' holiday, with the option to buy an additional 10 days.

There is a highly flexible hybrid working model, with only one day per week in the office.
