Location: Newcastle, Leeds, or Manchester (Hybrid – on-site presence required) - 3 x per week

Clearance: SC Cleared (Active)

Engagement Type: Contract

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Duration: 3 – 6 months

Rate - £450 – £500 per day

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Delivery Manager with a proven track record in managing digital and technology projects within the UK Government or wider public sector. The successful candidate will take end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of complex programmes, ensuring alignment with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards, and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of digital projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies and embed best practices across teams.
  • Build, maintain, and manage relationships with senior stakeholders across government departments.
  • Remove blockers, manage risks and issues, and drive delivery momentum.
  • Ensure alignment with government frameworks, including GDS Service Standards.
  • Support teams in adopting a delivery-focused culture while promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Manage dependencies across multiple teams and suppliers.
  • Provide clear, concise reporting and governance updates.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience as a Delivery Manager in UK Government or public sector programmes.
  • Active SC Clearance (mandatory).
  • Strong background in Agile delivery, with experience in Scrum, Kanban, or scaled Agile frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage risks, issues, and dependencies in complex environments.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams including developers, BAs, testers, and UX professionals.
  • Strong understanding of government delivery approaches, including GDS standards and agile governance.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of delivering large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or modern delivery practices.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and commercial supplier management within government contexts.
  • Experience with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
