Senior Project Manager (SFIA Level 5) – Counter Fraud, Compliance & Debt (CFCD)
Client: Government Department
Rate: Up to £450/470 inside IR35
Clearance: Active SC preferred; SC eligibility required
Location: Manchester or Blackpool (preferred) – alternative hubs in Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle or Sheffield
Hybrid: 2–3 days per week on-site
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead delivery within the leading government department This is a high-impact role driving projects.
You’ll work closely with digital, security, finance and commercial partners — as well as other government departments and law enforcement agencies — to design and deliver complex technical and business solutions, often from the ground up. Expect to be at the centre of multi-stakeholder delivery, shaping outcomes that make a national difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of multiple complex CFCD projects from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with architects, security teams, commercial, and digital services to define and validate requirements.
- Engage and coordinate across government and external partners, including law enforcement and technology suppliers.
- Apply the right project management tools and techniques to drive pace, value, and quality.
- Identify risks and blockers early, taking decisive action to resolve or escalate as needed.
- Manage procurement processes, supplier relationships, and commercial considerations effectively.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities, balancing multiple high-profile deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying themes, lessons learned, and opportunities to optimise delivery.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programmes in a government or large-scale environment.
- Strong understanding of agile and traditional project management methods and their practical application.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Confidence in navigating matrixed organisations and engaging with senior-level partners.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to deliver outcomes at pace.
- SC clearance (active or eligible).
Location and Working Pattern
- Preferred hubs: Manchester or Blackpool.
- Team presence: Typically in office 2–3 days per week (e.g. Mondays and Thursdays in Manchester).
- Other locations (Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield) may be considered – flexibility can be agreed based on candidate circumstances.
