Technical Architect – Contract
£550/day (Inside IR35) | Hybrid (1x per month onsite) | SC Clearance Required or eligible | ASAP Start
A leading public sector organisation is seeking a Senior Technical Architect with a strong hands-on development background to support the delivery of modern digital services within a complex engineering environment.
This role requires a confident technical leader who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, guide architectural decision-making, and translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
SOW & Deliverables
- Provide technical leadership across delivery teams and programmes
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs and architecture solutions
- Support architectural decision-making and ensure alignment with engineering best practices
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, product, and delivery functions
- Contribute to modern DevOps and cloud-native delivery practices
- Support teams delivering highly scalable and resilient services
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Technical Architect with a hands-on engineering background
- Strong experience leading teams and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Previous experience within UK government or public sector environments
- Experience with:
- Java or Kotlin
- Spring Boot
- TypeScript / Node.js
- AWS
- Kubernetes
- Terraform
- GitHub
- TDD and DevOps practices
- Comfortable guiding technical direction and influencing strategic decisions
Additional Information
- Active SC clearance or strong eligibility required
- Hybrid role with travel once per month to a UK hub location (Sheffield, Leeds, or London)
- Initial 3-month contract starting ASAP
