THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you passionate about automating networks rather than just operating them?

We're working with an award-winning technology consultancy that partners with some of the world's largest enterprises to deliver automation-first transformation across networking, cloud, and infrastructure. Due to rapid UK and European growth, they're expanding their Professional Services team with a Network Automation Consultant who enjoys solving complex challenges and working directly with customers.

This role is delivery-focused, not BAU support - perfect for engineers who want to design, build, and own automation solutions that modernise real-world enterprise environments.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a consultant within Professional Services, you'll play a key role in helping customers transform how their networks are built and managed.

You'll:

  • Design and deliver network automation solutions for large-scale enterprise clients.
  • Apply strong networking fundamentals to automate configuration, optimisation, and change.
  • Build reusable automation using Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Engage with customers weekly through workshops, discovery sessions, and technical design discussions.
  • Integrate APIs and automation platforms to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to shape best practice solutions.
  • Customer site visits typically occur 1–2 times per quarter, with all expenses fully covered.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

This role suits:

  • Network Engineers or NOC Engineers who've moved into automation.
  • Automation / DevOps Engineers who understand networks and want to specialise further.
  • Consultants who enjoy being customer-facing and shaping technical outcomes.

If you can confidently configure networks and understand how automation enhances them, you'll thrive here.

Key Experience (5 Core Areas):

You'll be a strong match if you have experience in at least 4 out of the 5 areas below (4/5 still makes you a highly competitive candidate):

  • Networking fundamentals & configuration (routing, switching, firewalls).
  • Python programming for automation.
  • Pytest (testing automation workflows).
  • Ansible.
  • Terraform.

Nice to Have (Desirable):

  • GraphQL knowledge or exposure.
  • Network automation platforms (NetBox, IP Fabric, Slurpit, Itential, Apstra).
  • Vendor automation frameworks (Juniper, Arista, Nokia).
  • CI/CD pipelines (GitHub / GitLab).
  • REST, NETCONF, gRPC API integrations.
  • Docker / Kubernetes.
  • Enterprise orchestration tooling.
  • Agile / Scrum experience.
