Senior Electrical Engineer

This is an operational role, bridging design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring that our data centre electrical infrastructure meets the highest standards.

The Electrical Operations Engineer will:

  • Oversee the execution of electrical designs from contractors and design engineers.
  • Ensure systems are installed, commissioned, and handed over according to specification.
  • Act as a technical and operational interface between design teams, contractors, and operations.
  • Support safe and reliable operation of critical electrical infrastructure.

This is a operations-heavy role, ideal for engineers who enjoy seeing designs come to life and ensuring they function in a real-world operational environment.

Essential

  • Qualified Electrical Engineer (BEng/MEng, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering).
  • Strong experience in data centre, industrial, or critical infrastructure operations.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical systems, commissioning, and site operations.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety, compliance, and testing procedures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor electrical installation works against design drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct site inspections and verify quality, compliance, and safety of installations.
  • Coordinate with contractors and design engineers to resolve issues quickly.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover of electrical systems.

Systems & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to UK electrical regulations, standards, and best practice.
  • Maintain documentation and records of inspections, tests, and compliance checks.
  • Assist with operational procedures and maintenance planning.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Act as the main point of contact for electrical systems between operations, construction, and design teams.
  • Report progress, issues, and recommendations to the Head of Engineering.
  • Participate in meetings to support project milestones and operational readiness.

Desirable

  • Experience with UPS, LV/HV systems, switchgear, and power distribution in data centres.
  • Understanding of PUE, energy efficiency, and operational KPIs.
  • Experience in construction oversight and contractor management.
  • Chartered status or professional membership (IET, EngTech, or similar).
