Android Developer (Testing-Focused) - Video Streaming
We are hiring an Android Developer to join a greenfield video streaming project, building a modern SDK used across multiple native platforms.
This role is best suited to an engineer who sees testing as a core part of software development, not a separate function. You'll be writing production Android code while also shaping how testing frameworks, services, and infrastructure are Embedded into the platform.

Day Rate: £600 INSIDE IR35
Office Days: Hybrid (London)
Contract Length: 6-month initial contract

What You'll Be Doing
Developing Kotlin-based Android features for a video streaming SDK
Designing and implementing testable, maintainable Android code
Integrating Android components with existing test frameworks
Improving and expanding test infrastructure alongside feature development
Supporting physical device testing strategies
Collaborating with iOS and Roku teams on cross-platform quality
Helping define engineering and testing best practices
What We're Looking For
4+ years Android development experience (Kotlin, Gradle, Android Studio)
Strong experience writing and maintaining Android tests
Deep understanding of testable architecture and automation principles
Comfortable owning features end-to-end
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Nice to Have
Video streaming experience (DASH/HLS)
ADB protocol knowledge
Experience with Swift, Go, TypeScript, or BrightScript
- Device farms, Docker, WebSockets
