Job Description - The Role

On Behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Programme Director, Finance Systems Transformation Programme for a 12 Month Day Rate Contract based in London.

Purpose of the role:

The Finance Systems Transformation Programme is a global change program supporting the wider Global Finance Vision for Arup. The programme will implement the Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM platforms globally for Finance replacing fragmented, legacy systems. Alongside the system implementation will be the operational change transformation to maximise benefits from the system.? The programme will reshape our Finance capabilities by unifying data and processes into one trusted source of truth, unlocking smarter decision-making, greater efficiency and improved user experience.

What you'll do:

As Programme Director, you will lead the successful delivery of the Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM implementation, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within scope, and to the required standard.

  • Programme Delivery & Oversight Drive the end-to-end programme lifecycle-from mobilisation through to design, build, testing, deployment, and stabilisation. Establish an effective delivery model and provide assurance that progress aligns with scope, timelines, and success measures.
  • Governance & Controls Set up and run programme governance, reporting, and control frameworks suitable for executive oversight. Manage RAID, track milestones, and escalate risks with clear mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder & Executive Engagement Act as a senior advisor to executives, translating complex delivery detail into clear, outcome-focused insights. Lead key decision-making forums and ensure decisions drive long-term value.
  • Systems Integrator & Vendor Management Coordinate SI and third-party partners, ensuring delivery quality and adherence to contractual obligations. Monitor dependencies (including with the People Fusion programme) and intervene to protect programme outcomes.
  • Change, Adoption & Readiness Provide strategic leadership on change and adoption activities to support successful deployment. Advise on approaches that enhance end-user adoption, data quality, and process efficiency, and assess organisational readiness for go-live.
  • Financial & Risk Oversight Oversee programme budgets, forecasts, and financial controls. Proactively identify and manage risks affecting cost, schedule, or benefits realisation.

The skills you'll need:

  • Proven leadership of enterprise-scale Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM transformations, ideally with two or more full-cycle implementations.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and co-ordination skills.
  • Deep understanding of finance and procurement processes, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Procurement, Expenses, and Reporting.
  • Demonstrable success in global companies.
  • Strong governance expertise, including budget stewardship, milestone management, and experience with delivery frameworks (Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall).
  • Exceptional communication to build relationships and manage stakeholders and influencing skills, with credibility at C-suite and Board level.
  • Strategic thinker with delivery capability and ability to problem solve creatively.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-autonomy environments, adaptable, resilient, decisive, and pragmatic.
