Software Project Manager - Embedded Systems - Hybrid 2/3 - Duxford - £60k+excellent benefits

Our client designs and manufactures the world’s best ground and coastline radars as well as software to make them smart and easy to use. They are growing rapidly and have new surveillance system projects that require careful technical project management to ensure smooth delivery of hardware and software, and also happy customers.

They are looking for a Technical Project Manager to manage external project activities to ensure that they are delivered to specification in a timely and effective manner.

Their radars are always used in more complex integrated systems, including with other sensor systems such as cameras, and also require provision of networking, power supply and Mechanical mounting solutions. While you may be involved in some pre-sales discussions with customers, your main involvement will be once they have the order. You will be talking to customers or their technical support teams to ensure that they prepare and provision for the installation and configuration of radars and software in agreed timescales.

The role of the Technical Project Manager will require close liaison with internal sales, technical and commercial teams, and for complex projects will involve communicating with the customer’s technical team. This is a technical role as the job requires you to understand the challenges that come with the integration of complex electronic equipment operating in potentially difficult environments. You will be responsible for generating and managing the project plans for external projects (and occasionally smaller internal projects) and liaising with manufacturing and procurement teams to ensure that they deliver the right equipment at the right time.

They expect you to have a technical degree combined with either appropriate experience or a demonstrable aptitude for project management. This is a hands-on role for which you will be responsible for delivering projects on time and within budget.

Experience/Qualifications

• A degree in a technical subject and experience to meet the requirements above.

• Experience around electronic hardware or system design.

• Solid project management experience and familiarity with project management tools and software.

• An ability to document your work accurately and clearly.

• An aptitude for organising and managing technical projects.

• Strong people skills.

• Good spoken and written English language skills.

They support hybrid working but require you to be in the office for three days each week to ensure close working and communication with the team. It is likely that you will be required occasionally to travel internationally to meet customers and/or see installation sites.

They are based just south of Cambridge with ample parking and easy road and rail routes to the vibrant city centre. They provide a friendly and supportive working environment including regular social events.
