6-Month Interim Contract | Hybrid Working | £54,850–£58,247 | 30 Hour, 4 Day Week

We are recruiting an experienced Finance Systems Lead to join an organisation on an initial six-month interim assignment, helping to improve and modernise its finance systems, processes and reporting.

This is a hands-on role combining financial systems expertise, technical accounting and process improvement. You will identify inefficiencies, recommend practical solutions and lead the implementation of changes that improve automation, strengthen controls and make day-to-day finance operations more efficient.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing existing finance systems and processes to identify issues, inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
  • Leading agreed improvements through to implementation, ensuring new processes are documented and embedded.
  • Reviewing month-end procedures, reconciliations, financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Improving financial reporting capabilities, including the development of budget templates and reporting tools.
  • Working with accounting software (SUN Systems and Dynamics), CRM systems and Excel to resolve issues and streamline processes.
  • Improving expenses and procurement processes, including updating procedures, templates and guidance.
  • Coordinating improvement projects and engaging with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Supporting senior finance leadership with the coordination of finance workstreams and delivery of wider priorities.

You will ideally have:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in a Systems Accountant, Finance Transformation or similar role.
  • A proven track record of identifying problems with finance systems and processes and delivering tangible improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems, financial reporting and Excel.
  • Experience improving processes, introducing automation and strengthening financial controls.
  • Good project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
  • The confidence to engage and influence stakeholders at different levels and support colleagues through change.
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector, knowledge of Charities SORP, and previous interim or contract experience would be advantageous.
