Job summary
The IT Training Team supports our staff in the use of Clinical and Non-Clinical Systems applications. As a team we recognise the constantly changing wider context in which our services operate and are flexible and innovative in our approach to ensure the system keeps pace with these changes. We recognise that our clinical users work in high pressure environments and we aim to provide a high quality, responsive and effective service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will
be a key member of the IT Training Team.
have specific responsibility for the design and delivery of high-quality and cost-efficient IT training to staff at all levels, in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and IT Training Programme. Training delivery can be through a combination of face-to-face, eLearning and virtual learning.
provide a consistent, professional and engaging learning and support service for all clinical and non-clinical systems.
contribute to the delivery of system support and will collate learner feedback to produce training materials that can be used both face to face and electronically. This role will require a high level of autonomy within the job remit.
assist in the exploitation of technology throughout the Trust and facilitate the realisation of benefits identified from the introduction of new technology.
act as an RA Agent and provide support services for NHS Smartcards as part of the Trust Registration Authority team.
support the delivery of Information Governance and Data Security Training under the direction and guidance of the IG Manager.

Job responsibilities
Technology Support and Training
Deliver a programme of IT training that makes an effective contribution to reaching the Trusts vision, strategic objectives and key work.
To support the blended learning strategy by providing classroom-based sessions, one-to-one tuition, eLearning packages and virtual learning sessions which may include bespoke courses.
Manage telephone / e-mail queries relating to the IT Training Portfolio and NHS Smartcards.
Service Improvement
To design, collate and implement Training Needs Analyses (TNA) in order to assess existing levels of competence and ascertain future educational needs specifically in basic IT skills, and in the use of systems under the Digital Services profile.
To analyse these TNA findings and develop and implement training packages to address these.
Liaise with other Digital Service Teams and departments in order to identify problem areas and potential solutions to problems.
Actively seek feedback from staff in relation to the quality of training, recording this appropriately, so that it provides a means by which to monitor and indicate improvements in the service.
To undertake the creation of eLearning packages using eLearning authoring tools, keeping up to date with the latest information and most effective way to create e-learning tools.
To provide tailored training sessions where standard course objectives do not meet delegate needs. To be able to offer differing options on what can be covered within time constraints.
To assist and support any project work linked to the implementation and/or upgrade of organisations systems/applications including floorwalking support when required and facilitate the realisation of benefits identified from the introduction of new technology within agreed timescales and resources.
Information and reporting
Undertake training administration activities as required, including scheduling, booking rooms, monitoring attendance and collating feedback on the Trust Learning Management System in an accurate and timely manner.
To support the IT Training Lead in the administration of the Digital Learning Solutions portal.
To design and develop learning materials and maintain a current library accessible on the organisations intranet or file management systems.
Signpost users to relevant Trust policies when receiving training.
Communications and Engagement
Communicate effectively with all Trust staff, external clients and other NHS organisations, as required.
Communicate clinical systems knowledge and processes accurately, clearly and effectively during training sessions to ensure skills and knowledge are transferred to the learner.
Liaise with user groups, support groups, technical groups and external suppliers attending meetings, seminars and presentations and provide feedback to other team members.
To contribute to the development of a network of clinical digital champions.
Health, Safety and Security
To report any incidents, accidents, near misses, and potentially dangerous situations in accordance with Trust policy.
To be aware of and comply with Trust policies/procedures in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of self and anyone affected by the Trusts business.
To be aware and comply with emergency procedures in your area e.g. Fire safety procedures.
To complete all Mandatory and Statutory Training sessions as per Trust requirements.
To ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and regulations, were applicable, to ensure highest safest quality at all times.
Ensure members of staff have the correct access before training on requiring smartcard access and maintenance of smartcards as a Registration Authority Agent.
Information Governance Compliance
To adhere to the statutory requirements, complying with Trust procedure, and treating any request with discretion, avoiding disclosure to unauthorised individuals, and treating with in a timely, and confidential manner.
Ensuring Trust Information Governance policy and best practice is followed (including confidentiality and data quality) to ensure data quality is maximised and confidentiality of information is maintained and applied to all data recorded, utilised and reported on.
Deliver Information Governance and Data Security Training under the direction of the Information Governance Manager.
Personal Development and Work Practices
To demonstrate a personal duty of care in relation to equipment, resources and maintenance of all training/meeting rooms to an acceptable standard, reporting any issues arising to the appropriate department.
To ensure the learning resources are utilised in an efficient and effective manner.
To adapt and be flexible in approach to carry out any other duties as may be determined by the IT Training Lead in support of the aims and objectives of the organisation which are commensurate with the post holders grade/level in the Trust.
To be flexible regarding working hours as sometimes there will be a need to facilitate training to clinical services outside of standard office hours. Where this is required, staff will be recompensed according to Trust policy.
Make individual judgements in situations and act accordingly on own initiative where necessary, within agreed limitations.
Actively participate in an annual Personal Development Review (PDR).
Person Specification
Qualifications and Further Training
- oProfessional training qualification or relevant experience in IT systems training oGood verbal and written English oCommitment to study toward a professional training qualification oEvidence of continuous professional development and acquisition of new skills and knowledge
- oDegree level qualification or equivalent experience in NHS oLevel 3 Award in Education and Training oEvidence of advanced training such as Microsoft Certified Trainer or TAP Trainer
Experience
- oExcellent understanding of the principles of information systems oPrevious experience of training design and the development of learning materials including lesson plans, course outlines, trainer notes and E-Learning modules oRelevant practical experience in an office environment oExperience of using technology to improve working practices

Knowledge
