We are working with a leading precision engineering manufacturer that is looking to appoint an experienced CAM Engineer to join their growing engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced offline CNC Programmer with strong CAD/CAM experience to play a key role in developing machining strategies, improving manufacturing processes, and supporting production across a range of complex precision-engineered components.
The successful candidate will have experience programming multi-axis CNC machines, optimising machining methods, and working closely with production and quality teams to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce offline CNC programs using CAM software for a variety of precision-engineered components
- Develop efficient machining strategies to improve productivity, reduce cycle times and minimise manufacturing costs
- Generate work packs, setup sheets and operation instructions for the shopfloor
- Work closely with Production to ensure monthly manufacturing schedules are achieved
- Take ownership of machining methods, tooling selection and workholding solutions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes
- Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions where required
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards and internal engineering procedures
- Support machine maintenance planning and coordinate additional maintenance where necessary
- Work alongside Engineering and Quality teams to successfully introduce new products into production
Key Requirements
- Previous experience as an Offline CNC Programmer or CAM Engineer
- Strong experience using CAM software (Mastercam experience desirable, although training can be provided)
- Proficient in CAD software for 2D and 3D modelling (SolidWorks experience desirable)
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models and customer specifications
- Good understanding of Fanuc and Haas CNC controls
- Experience programming 3 Axis, 3+2 Axis and 5 Axis CNC machining centres
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling and workholding techniques
- Experience machining exotic materials commonly used within the Oil & Gas, Energy or Aerospace sectors
- Experience supporting new product introduction and project managing components through production
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
- Competent using Microsoft Office packages
- ERP system experience would be advantageous
Package Details
- Salary negotiable depending on experience
- 33 days annual leave including Bank Holidays
- 0800-1630 M-T / 0800-1330 Friday OR 0745-1730 Monday to Thursday
- Company Pension matched up to 8%
