Aspion Search are supporting an established manufacturer in their search for a Buyer / Stock Controller to join their team in Irlam.

With over 50 years in business, this manufacturer offers a supportive working environment, strong staff retention and opportunities to develop. You’ll play a key role in keeping production supplied, managing stock and building reliable supplier relationships.

The Role

Reporting to the Lead Planner & Supply Chain Manager, you will manage the purchasing of raw materials, packaging and site supplies, working closely with production, logistics, commercial and finance teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Purchasing raw materials, including oils, chemicals and powders, alongside cardboard, steel and plastic packaging.
• Negotiating supplier pricing, lead times and supply terms to achieve value and maintain reliable supply.
• Using SAP to manage purchasing information, stock levels, pricing and supplier records.
• Monitoring stock requirements and supporting forecasting to meet production demand.
• Building relationships with existing suppliers and identifying alternative sources of supply.
• Coordinating supplier deliveries with site teams to keep arrivals organised.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing documentation, material data sheets and reports.
• Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Supporting wider purchasing requirements across production, maintenance and office functions.
• Attending supplier meetings, audits and industry events as required.

About You

• At least three years’ purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven SAP experience is a huge advantage.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Experience managing stock and purchasing a range of production materials.
• Excellent organisation, attention to detail and spreadsheet skills.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to work across different departments.
• A practical approach to problem solving, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

What’s on Offer

• Salary of £32,000–£35,000, depending on experience.
• Monday to Thursday, 7:30am–4:00pm, with a 3:15pm finish on Fridays.
