Junior Software Developer
We’re Atom...
The bank that's leading the fintech charge!
We’re not like the rest. We’re true innovators, and we’re redefining what a bank should be. Ours is a bank for today and the future, a mobile-first bank. Forget the stuffy branches, with Atom you can bank whenever, wherever, faster, and simpler.
Could you be the next innovator to join us?
What will your typical day look like? Different that’s for sure...
At Atom, we are building the future of digital finance. We're looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our Lending Value Stream. This is not a traditional, code-heavy engineering role. Instead, you'll be a key player in leveraging our Flowable platform to develop and maintain low-code workflow solutions that will directly enable our business.
This role is a unique opportunity to work on a fundamental platform for the bank, taking ideas from conception to production. You’ll work at the intersection of technology and business, collaborating closely with stakeholders to turn their needs into workable, real-world solutions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior engineer to make a significant impact on a core banking platform and gain invaluable experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Flowable Expertise: Your primary responsibility will be to develop and customise workflows using the Flowable platform.
- Collaboration & Stakeholders: Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective solutions.
- Development: While the role is low-code focused, you will still need to apply your coding skills. You will be expected to implement fundamental coding standards.
- Delivery & Best Practices: Collaborate with the wider engineering team through activities like pair programming. You'll contribute to delivery meetings by providing basic task sizing, communicating progress, and flagging blockers. You'll also develop an understanding of testing best practices .
- Growth & Mentorship: We are committed to your development. You will work with a mentor or coach to address any skills gaps and are expected to demonstrate a curiosity to learn through personal development and research.
What do we need from you?
- You should have a proactive and curious nature with a passion for finding solutions to complex business problems.
- You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Java.
- Experience with a low-code platform like Flowable is desired, but not essential.
- An excellent communicator who is comfortable working with various stakeholders and engineering teams.
- A desire to learn fast and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
- A Computer Science degree with foundational knowledge of software development lifecycle.
