Role Overview:

  • Job Title: Senior Java Full Stack Developer
  • Location: Hybrid – 3- 4 days onsite per week in London
  • Contract Type: Contract
  • Duration: 10 months initial
  • Rate: £675.11 per day PAYE or £800 per day Umbrella

We are looking for a Java Full Stack contractor with strong engineering experience across backend, frontend, and delivery automation, with a particular emphasis on CI/CD automation and system integration.

This role suits someone who is hands-on in Java full stack development, but who also brings deep experience in build/deployment pipelines, release automation, integration patterns, and engineering efficiency improvements. The successful candidate should be comfortable working across the software delivery lifecycle, helping teams improve how applications are built, integrated, tested, and deployed.

Key focus areas:

  • Java full stack development across backend services and UI applications
  • CI/CD pipeline design, implementation, and optimisation
  • Build, deployment, and release automation
  • Application and platform integration
  • Improving developer workflow, delivery speed, and deployment reliability
  • Supporting modern engineering practices across development and operational readiness

Important note:

We are not looking for an automated QA / test automation developer. While the role may involve working with pipeline quality gates and delivery tooling, the core requirement is a software engineer with strong CI/CD automation and integration capability, not someone focused primarily on test scripting or QA automation.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as an integral part of an agile software development team
  • Strong Java development skills, including experience with multi-threaded and mission critical applications
  • Exposure and knowledge of front-end technologies such as React and Angular
  • Experience with relational database technologies, including SQL proficiency
  • Embed quality gates and parallelized execution in CI/CD; reduce build times while increasing signal quality and reliability.
  • Improve developer experience: streamline build pipelines, optimize caching, clarify branching/release processes, and enhance observability for debugging failed tests.
  • Shift-left quality mindset and risk-based test planning
  • Strong debugging/troubleshooting habits (logs, traces), observability awareness

Please feel free to contact myself – Daisy Nguyen at Gibbs Consulting/Atrium UK for a confidential chat to know more details about the role.

Please also note: Due to the volume of applications received for positions, it will not be possible to respond to all applications and only applicants who are considered suitable for interview will be contacted.
