Information Technology Business Analyst

Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to support a leading Oil & Gas client within their T&S C&P Change Delivery organisation, specifically in the Products Data Exchange (PDX) team. The role requires a detail‐oriented and analytical BA who can capture and translate complex business needs into clear functional and non‐functional requirements, model processes and data flows, and support the full delivery lifecycle across hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments. The candidate would be required to go to the client's office located in Waterloo 2-3 days in a week.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience capturing and translating complex business problems into clear functional and non‐functional requirements.
  • Proven ability to assess data flows, systems interactions, and process models to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Skilled in maintaining high‐quality BA documentation including requirements backlogs, user stories, data specifications, and RAID logs.
  • Experienced in working with data engineers, developers, data scientists, and QA teams through the full solution lifecycle.
  • Hands‐on experience in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments and working with Azure DevOps for backlog and work item management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including facilitation of workshops with SMEs and senior leaders.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Background in delivering data aggregation and analytics platforms, including Data Lakehouse and BI solutions.
  • Experience with tools such as Visio, UML diagrams, Power BI, Adobe XD, and Zeplin.
  • Domain expertise across Refining, Oil & Gas operations, KPI reporting, engineering data, and data‐driven operational insights.
  • Certifications including PMP and IIBA Agile Analyst.
  • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear, business‐friendly manner.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Capture business needs, value drivers, and detailed requirements, ensuring clarity and alignment with solution design.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and assess feasibility, risks, and solution impacts.
  • Model processes and data flows, identifying current gaps and recommending optimised future-state designs.
  • Maintain traceability of requirements throughout testing, scope changes, and final solution delivery.
  • Collaborate with developers, data engineers, architects, and software suppliers to ensure technical alignment with business expectations.
  • Define acceptance criteria and support testing cycles to ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities, including workshops and design sessions, building strong relationships across business and IT.
  • Support longer-term strategic initiatives by proposing improvements in value, cost, process efficiency, technology, and data management.
  • Contribute to BA capability uplift by sharing best practices, coaching peers, and bringing external perspectives into the organisation.
