Storage and Platform Infrastructure Engineer 

A fantastic opportunity to work with one of our key clients as a Storage and Platform Engineer. 

Location: Hybrid working - Office location is Cambridge / London 

Salary: £37,000 - £43,000 plus overtime and benefits 

Perks: 30 days holiday + bank holidays 

Role description: 

  • Provide a range of infrastructure solutions, prioritising tasks to meet agreed service levels. Document results and escalate issues when necessary.

  • Implement, maintain, and improve systems and services according to ICT architecture and governance standards.

  • Utilize designated monitoring tools to track system performance and report any issues to the Lead Technical Analyst before resolving them.

  • Adhere to operational standards and suggest system modifications when appropriate.

  • Collaborate with various IT teams to deliver well-designed and supported IT services.

  • Follow established procedures for handling requests and managing incidents, ensuring top-notch customer service.

  • Investigate and resolve complex issues, serving as an escalation point for other team members.

  • Offer technical expertise in resolving major incidents and problems, documenting solutions for future reference.

Skills / Qualifications required: 

  • Degree or equivalent and relevant professional qualification. 

  • Proficient in computer systems and software with Windows, VMWare & Active Directory.

  • Knowledge of Nutanix is highly advantageous.

  • Hands-on experience with desktop and application virtualization in corporate settings.

  • Skilled in deploying and configuring end-user devices on a large scale in centralized environments.

  • Proficient in securing end-user devices using malware prevention tools.

  • Experienced in supervising the daily tasks of technical personnel.

  • Familiarity with installation and administration of Microsoft end-user operating systems.

  • Understanding of popular end-user application suites.

  • Proficiency in application packaging and virtualization utilizing technologies like Microsoft App-V and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of desktop virtualization using VMware vSphere or similar technologies.

  • Competent in utilizing capacity and performance monitoring tools and interpreting their data.

  • Awareness of relevant information technology legislation.
