Senior System Engineer
🚀 Senior Systems Engineer (Linux, On-Prem, Python)
📍 London / Dublin (Hybrid)
🚫 Important
This role is not suited to candidates with primarily cloud-based experience (AWS/GCP/Azure).
We’re specifically looking for engineers who have worked directly with on-premise infrastructure, physical servers, and OS-level systems.
💡 The Opportunity
We’re partnered with a global, high-performance trading technology environment operating at extreme scale.
Their infrastructure underpins real-time systems across multiple global data centres, where latency, reliability, and performance are critical to the business.
This is not a cloud-first environment. You’ll be working directly with physical servers, bare metal infrastructure, and highly tuned Linux systems that require deep technical understanding and precision.
⚙️ What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing, building, and maintaining high-performance Linux server environments
- Troubleshooting complex issues across production infrastructure at scale
- Writing and maintaining automation and tooling (Python + Bash)
- Tuning systems to improve latency, performance, and efficiency
- Managing configuration, deployments, and OS-level environments
- Working closely with internal engineering teams and vendors globally
- Contributing to capacity planning and long-term infrastructure strategy
🧠 What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years experience working with Linux in production environments
- Strong experience with on-prem / physical server infrastructure (non-cloud)
- Solid Python scripting experience (essential)
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols
- Experience with tools such as Ansible, Kickstart, package management, version control
- Exposure to low-latency or high-performance environments
- Experience with storage (NAS) and system-level configuration (BIOS, kernel tuning, etc.)
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
📈 Why This Role
- Work on mission-critical systems where performance actually matters
- Direct exposure to large-scale, globally distributed infrastructure
- Highly technical environment with strong engineering standards
