Network Data Engineer
Rate: £500-£510 per day Inside IR35
Location: Chester: 2-3 days per week onsite, remaining remote (full time)
Duration: 12 months initially, view to extend.
Role Overview
A leading financial services organisation is seeking a highly technical Network Data Engineer to support large-scale enterprise network services within a regulated environment. This role sits within a senior engineering team responsible for core network infrastructure, security, and traffic flow across data centres and enterprise platforms.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can own workstreams end-to-end, contribute to design decisions, and troubleshoot complex issues without relying on prescriptive runbooks. Project focus is a Skyhigh to Bluecoat migration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and support enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, DC)
- Own delivery of network changes from HLD/LLD through CAB and implementation
- Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 / Layer 3 issues across large environments
- Work closely with security and platform teams during infrastructure migrations
- Support and integrate firewalls, load balancers, DNS and routing platforms
- Participate in incident, problem and change management processes
- Operate confidently in a highly regulated, large-scale enterprise environment
Required Technical Experience
- CCNP or CCIE level networking experience
- Strong routing and switching knowledge (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS)
- Enterprise firewall experience (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX)
- Load balancer exposure (F5 and/or AVI preferred)
- Experience working with structured change control (ITIL / CAB)
- Proven experience owning and delivering complex technical work
Desirable
- Financial services or large enterprise background
- Exposure to network transformation or migration programmes
- Experience supporting hybrid or multi-vendor environments
