Junior Developer

Are you an early-career Software Developer who wants to build commercial software while gaining hands-on exposure to machine learning and computer vision?

We are working with a growing technology business that is looking for a Junior Software Developer to join its engineering team.

This is not a narrowly defined junior role. You will work across backend development, databases, APIs, cloud services and production machine learning systems, giving you the chance to build broad commercial experience at an important stage in your career.

The Role

You will help develop and maintain software applications used in a real-world commercial environment.

Your work will include:

Building backend services and APIs using Python and Node.js
Working with PostgreSQL, SQL and MongoDB
Contributing to React-based frontend applications
Supporting the training and deployment of machine learning models
Working on object detection and computer vision-related functionality
Deploying and maintaining applications using AWS
Collaborating with developers and other teams to produce clean, scalable and maintainable software
What We Are Looking For

You should have around 1 to 2 years of commercial software development experience and a strong interest in backend engineering.

The most important requirements are:

Commercial experience with Python and/or Node.js
Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, SQL or MongoDB
Practical commercial exposure to machine learning
Experience contributing to the deployment of an ML solution as part of a team

You do not need to be a machine learning specialist. However, your experience must go beyond university coursework or personal projects.

Additional Experience

Experience in any of the following would be useful:

React.js
Django, Flask or FastAPI
REST API development
AWS
Object detection or computer vision
Git
CI/CD or DevOps practices

Salary and Working Pattern

The salary up to £55,000.

The company operates a hybrid working model in Central London. Some office attendance will be encouraged during the initial onboarding period so you can get to know the team and wider business.
