We are working with a well-established UK infrastructure and highways services business to recruit a GIS Developer into a growing technical team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys combining software development and GIS, working on real-world systems that support nationally significant infrastructure projects.

The Company

Our client has been operating for over 30 years and works at the heart of the UK’s highways and drainage network. They support major public sector bodies and Tier 1 contractors, delivering asset management, surveying, and data-driven services across the country.

The business is in a strong growth phase, with turnover approaching £75m and clear plans to exceed £100m within the next two years, supported by recent and upcoming acquisitions. Technology and data play a critical role in enabling this growth.

The Role

As a GIS Developer, you will join a small specialist team responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving GIS workflows and systems used across live operational environments.

This is not a purely analytical GIS role. You will be:

• Developing and maintaining GIS-based systems and workflows

• Fixing bugs, troubleshooting issues, and improving existing tools

• Designing and building new solutions as requirements evolve

• Supporting ongoing changes driven by frequent ESRI platform updates

• Working closely with technical and operational stakeholders

The role offers genuine variety, ownership, and the chance to make a visible impact.

Technology Environment

The role is heavily aligned to the ESRI ecosystem, including:

• ArcGIS Pro

• ArcGIS Online

• ArcGIS Field Maps

• Migration away from legacy ArcMap

Key technologies include:

• Python

• ArcPy

• Pandas

• ETL processes

• SQL / SQLite

Desirable experience:

• C# with ArcGIS Pro SDK

• Node.js or JavaScript frameworks

Location & Working Pattern

• Hybrid role with around 3 days per week onsite

• Primary location: Penkridge, Staffordshire

o Train station in the village

• Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00

• Friday: 08:30 – 16:00
