Lead Infrastructure Engineer

Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Cannock (Fully On-Site)

We’re working with a well-established and growing organisation looking to hire a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of their core infrastructure environment.

This is a hands-on, senior-level role focused on designing, building, and improving infrastructure rather than simply supporting existing systems. You’ll work closely with the Head of Technology and act as a key technical lead within the team, playing a key role in both day-to-day operations and longer-term improvements.

The Role

This position is centred around ownership and delivery. You will take responsibility for both the network and server environment, acting as a senior escalation point while also driving improvements across the estate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing infrastructure solutions
  • Owning network and server environments
  • Acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Supporting and guiding other team members
  • Driving continuous improvements across a largely on-prem environment

Alongside this, there are several upcoming projects which will provide strong technical exposure, including a network refresh, improvements to backup and disaster recovery, a telephony rollout across multiple sites, and longer-term cloud initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

We’re specifically looking for someone who has built and delivered infrastructure environments, not just maintained them.

You’ll bring strong technical capability across:

  • Networking (firewalls, switching, routing)
  • Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Virtualisation (VMware preferred)
  • On-prem or hybrid infrastructure environments

In addition, you’ll likely have:

  • Experience owning or leading infrastructure projects
  • A hands-on, delivery-focused background
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across complex environments
  • A clear and confident communication style

Important to Know

This is a fully on-site role based in Cannock and will suit someone who enjoys being hands-on and close to the environment. It is not a cloud-first or DevOps-focused position, and is better suited to someone with a strong infrastructure and networking background.

Why Join?

This role offers genuine ownership of infrastructure, the opportunity to shape and improve the environment, and exposure to meaningful technical projects within a stable and well-established business
