Head of Product Operations

Aveni is redefining how financial institutions use AI. We build real, production-ready agentic systems that reshape how banks, advisers and financial services firms operate, replacing fragmented processes with intelligent, end-to-end workflows. We have been recognised as Fintech of the Year for two consecutive years and awarded Best Specialist Technology Service at the Professional Adviser Awards 2025. Backed by leading investors including Puma Private Equity, and commercially supported by Lloyds Banking Group and Nationwide Building Society, we previously completed one of Scotland’s largest Series A rounds. Since then, we’ve continued to grow rapidly as adoption of AI in financial services accelerates, and we’re now scaling our team to meet that demand.

As we enter our next phase of growth, we’re looking for a Head of Product Operations to scale our product organisation and delivery capability. This is a pivotal leadership role for someone who thrives on building the systems, frameworks and operational infrastructure that allow product teams to move faster — with quality, predictability and compliance built in.

You’ll act as the force multiplier for our product function, enabling Senior Product Managers and Product Owners to focus on strategy and execution while you ensure they have the tools, processes and data to succeed.

The Role

This is a critical scaling role reporting to the CPO. You will design and embed world-class product operations frameworks that support our evolution from high-growth startup to mature scale-up, across both our Wealth and Assurance product lines.

You’ll bring structure without bureaucracy, governance without friction, and operational excellence without slowing innovation.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Product Operations & Scaling

  • Design and implement scalable product operating frameworks
  • Standardise roadmap planning, prioritisation, delivery tracking and post-launch optimisation
  • Build repeatable launch and adoption playbooks
  • Own and optimise the product tech stack (roadmapping, analytics, feedback and collaboration tools)
  • Establish consistent product metrics frameworks and capacity planning processes

Delivery Excellence & Governance

  • Implement rigorous, repeatable delivery processes that ensure predictability and quality
  • Define clear lifecycle frameworks from discovery to launch and optimisation
  • Embed metrics-driven decision-making across velocity, cycle time, predictability and quality
  • Establish quality gates, release criteria and product governance processes
  • Ensure compliance, audit readiness and regulatory controls are embedded into workflows

Data & Analytics Infrastructure

  • Build comprehensive product analytics capability
  • Establish dashboards covering performance, usage and business outcomes
  • Create structured customer feedback loops (NPS, CSAT, feature requests, usage data)
  • Enable experimentation frameworks and data-led prioritisation
  • Ensure PMs and POs have real-time access to actionable insights

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as the operational hub across product, engineering, commercial, customer success and leadership
  • Establish clear cadences for planning, reviews and releases
  • Coordinate cross-product dependencies and portfolio resource allocation
  • Align product roadmaps with go-to-market plans and company strategy

Team Enablement

  • Enable PMs and POs through training, coaching and best-in-class tooling
  • Establish product competency models and career frameworks
  • Create onboarding and knowledge management systems
  • Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement

Customer & Compliance-First Operations

  • Embed structured customer discovery and feedback rhythms
  • Ensure customer voice is central to prioritisation
  • Build health monitoring systems for adoption, satisfaction and retention
  • Integrate FCA and regulatory requirements into every stage of product development
  • Establish documentation, audit trails and regulatory change processes

Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management

  • Facilitate quarterly and annual roadmap planning
  • Implement prioritisation frameworks balancing customer value, commercial impact and regulatory requirements
  • Introduce OKRs or cascading goal frameworks
  • Provide visibility into roadmap delivery and execution against commitments

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 10+ years in product roles, including hands-on product management
  • 5+ years in product operations, product leadership or programme management
  • Proven experience scaling product teams (e.g. 5–10 to 20+ people)
  • Strong background in RegTech, WealthTech or financial services technology
  • Experience working within FCA-regulated environments
  • Experience with AI/ML or agent-based products highly desirable

Skills & Expertise

  • Deep expertise in product operations frameworks and scalable systems
  • Strong programme management and agile delivery experience
  • Data-driven mindset with fluency in product metrics and analytics platforms
  • Experience implementing tools such as Jira, ProductBoard, Amplitude, Mixpanel or similar
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Commercial awareness and portfolio optimisation experience

Personal Attributes

  • Obsessed with operational excellence and leverage through systems
  • Process-oriented but pragmatic
  • Detail-focused while maintaining strategic oversight
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and high-growth environments
  • Deeply customer-aware
  • High integrity with strong compliance mindset
  • Bias toward action and continuous improvement
