This is a pivotal role in maintaining critical national infrastructure where scalability and resilience are essential. We're looking for a highly skilled DevOps engineer with a strong background in testing (including APIs). The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and results-driven, capable of thriving in an Agile team. You'll need to be comfortable with Confluence for documentation and Jira for project tracking and story management.
Your main responsibility will be to develop and structure a comprehensive test framework. This includes creating approaches and plans, gaining approval for those approaches, and ultimately delivering a complex set of functional and performance tests for software components running within an AWS multi-account model. You will be working alongside client teams and supporting, as required, in a 3rd line capacity.
Key technologies you'll be working with include Vault, Consul, Kubernetes, various AWS services (Compute, Identity), Prometheus for monitoring, ELK, Jenkins for CI/CD, and scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, and/or Bash. Knowledge of proxies and firewalls, including Fortinet and Palo Alto, would be an advantage.”
1. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible are essential.
• Enables automated, repeatable, and scalable infrastructure deployment.
• Critical for managing cloud environments and hybrid systems.
2. Containerization & Orchestration
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes is a must.
• Helps in packaging applications and managing them across environments.
• Supports scalability, fault tolerance, and efficient resource usage.
3. Cloud Platform Expertise
• Deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Includes networking, storage, compute, and security services.
• Ability to architect and optimize cloud-native solutions.
4. CI/CD Pipeline Design
• Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.
• Automates testing, integration, and deployment processes.
• Ensures faster, more reliable software delivery.
5. Security & Compliance Integration (DevSecOps)
• Embedding security into every phase of the DevOps lifecycle.
• Familiarity with tools like SonarQube, Snyk, and OWASP practices.
• Ensures secure code, infrastructure, and data handling.
Core Experience Requirements for a DevOps SME:
• Years of Experience: Typically, 5–10+ years in DevOps, systems engineering, or software development.
• Technical Breadth: Proven expertise across development, operations, and automation disciplines.
• Cloud Platforms: Deep experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including architecture and security.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on with tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Designing and managing pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Strong proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitoring & Logging: Familiarity with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
• Security & Compliance: Experience integrating DevSecOps practices and managing audits.
• Leadership & Mentoring: Ability to guide teams, define DevOps strategy, and influence architecture.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and translating technical concepts into business impact.
