Role Overview
Randstad Sourceright are partnering with Aviva to recruit an experienced Senior Data Business Analyst to support a portfolio of strategic data and transformation initiatives within Aviva’s London Market business.
This is a high-impact and challenging role requiring an individual who can operate comfortably across both the technical data landscape and senior business stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing complex datasets, understanding system integrations and data flows, and translating technical insights into clear business outcomes.
You will work closely with underwriting, pricing, operations, and technology teams to ensure data-driven decisions support Aviva’s transformation agenda.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Technical Investigation
- Conduct deep analysis of complex datasets to support data migration, integration, and transformation initiatives.
- Use SQL to interrogate data, validate assumptions, and investigate data quality or lineage issues.
- Analyse data structures, flows, and system interactions across the London Market technology landscape.
- Work with modern data platforms including Snowflake and pricing environments where applicable.
- Provide insight and recommendations to support system and data design decisions.
Business Analysis & Requirements
- Lead business analysis activities across multiple workstreams within a wider transformation programme.
- Elicit and document business, functional, and data requirements.
- Produce high-quality documentation including:
- Business requirements
- Functional specifications
- Data dictionaries
- Process flows and use cases
- Ensure solutions align with business objectives and regulatory expectations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key bridge between technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
- Translate complex data and technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for business leaders.
- Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, and solution reviews across underwriting, pricing, operations, and finance.
- Build strong relationships across both technical and business communities.
Delivery & Governance
- Support delivery across data transformation initiatives including system integration and data migration activities.
- Contribute to testing, validation, and user acceptance testing processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, processes, and system capabilities.
- Monitor project risks, issues, and dependencies within the data workstream.
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
- Significant experience as a Data Business Analyst within London Market insurance.
- Strong understanding of insurance processes such as underwriting, pricing, broking, claims, or operations.
- Proven experience working on data migration, integration, or transformation initiatives.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to analyse and investigate complex datasets.
- Experience working with modern data platforms such as Snowflake or similar.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and integration patterns.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering within large-scale transformation or modernisation programmes.
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks impacting the London Market.
- Experience working within complex data ecosystems involving multiple legacy and modern systems.
