Job Title: Technician - Weights

Salary: £30,000+ depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
-
Responsible for physical weighing of systems and equipment
-
Supporting Weight Engineers to compile and manage whole boat weight estimates, process data from suppliers and record all findings

Calculations of mass and centre of gravity
-
Using CAD packages to support weight calculations
-
Assisting in boat surveys and other activities within the yard

Attending external supplier sites as and when required
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
-
Educated to GCSE standard or higher
-
Previous practical or technical experience in Electrical Systems, Manufacturing, Fabrication, Machining, Engineering or Marine Operations

Proficient in all Microsoft Applications
-
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross functional teams
Desirable:
-
CAD software experience
-
Apprenticeship in Manufacturing or Engineering
-
HND or similar in Engineering or technical discipline

The Weight Engineering team:
A great opportunity to learn more about submarines and develop an engineering career in this exciting field. The Weight Engineering Team are a specialist group of engineers who play a critical role collating, estimating, and calculating mass and centres of gravity in submarine design and build ensuring safe operations. The Team forms an integral part of the Naval Architecture Department, which is responsible for designing the world’s most advanced submarines for the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy. We offer relocation support across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
