Salary: Up to £67,000 dependent on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:

• Working on an exciting and complex 8 ship programme to deliver world class anti-submarine Type 26 Frigates

• Leading inspections on an in-build platform to ensure design intent is implemented at ship to meet requirements

• Preparing and conducting Harbour & Sea Trials including unique opportunities to see the ship working at sea - assessing results and production of reports as well as technical report writing

• Assessing technical risks to derive pragmatic solutions to resolve or mitigate ship based issues in a fast paced, high pressure environment

• Engaging with Internal and External stakeholders, i.e., Engineering teams, Technical Authorities, Production Staff, Procurement Teams, Suppliers and Customers to discuss technical issues and problems and to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied and emergent problems/ issues are mitigated accordingly

• Opportunity to work across the entire platform and multiple systems to ensure design intent is achieved and technical risk is managed

• Opportunity to build on experience in EMC to act as trusted subject matter expert to senior leaders in the Naval Ships business

Your skills and experience:

Essentials:

• Knowledge and experience of the application of Risk Based EMC on a Naval platform

• Previous experience of operating within a technical team with the ability to provide coaching and mentoring to others within the team to support their development

• Experience of physical and functional integration of combat systems equipment in a defence environment

• Understanding of Systems engineering lifecycle within a defence environment

Desirable:

• Knowledge and experience of Def Stan 59-411

Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.

Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

The Type 26 EEE & Topside Team :

This is an exciting opportunity to play your part in delivering the UK Royal Navy's most complex warships. As Type 26 first of class, HMS Glasgow, prepares to begin the fitting out phase of construction and commissioning you will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge. You will be a part of our Type 26 EEE & Topside team which is a technical team that works across the lifecycle of the programme. The team work within Combat Systems Department and have Whole ship requirements for Electromagnetics Environmental Effects. The team risk assesses the Platform at a System level, assures the design is implemented in build and then undertake practical testing to meet customer requirement with the potential to lead into more senior positions within the discipline or global business.
