What you'll be doing:
  • Delivering the functional design of Internal Comms and Platform Data Systems (ICPDS), ensuring that customer requirements, and user requirements are elicited and agreed, and that systems and equipment are compliant with these requirements
  • Ensuring that the Communications and Networks scope integrates functionally with all the other systems and scenarios that call upon it
  • Assessing programme and technical risks to the delivery of the agreed Communications and Networks scope and propose mitigation activities and fall-back opportunities to the client
  • Supporting the 3D modelling activities and the programme review events to mature the 3D design and allowing release of data to production
  • Preparing the Comms systems hardware and software configuration for integration in a specialist integration facility
  • Supporting the integration team in the management of the acquisition of and installation of the facility equipment into the facility
  • Finalising the Comms verification and validation strategy and ensuring this is understood and bought-into by relevant parties
    Your skills and experiences:

    Essential
    • Demonstrable experience of working with third party companies to develop products
    • Proven management experience within a complex systems environment, such as: avionics, communications, military platforms, oil & gas, automotive, nuclear, power etc.
    • Degree (Honours) or equivalent qualification or experience within relevant engineering discipline
    • Demonstrable experience of leading teams
      Desirable
      • Chartered Engineer or working towards this

        The Internal Comms and Platform Data Systems (ICPDS) team:

        As an Engineering Manager (Data Network & Communications), you will be in charge of a team of engineers responsible for the design, qualification, development and validation of internal communication equipment. This will involve liaising with key internal stakeholders, as well as large suppliers, subcontractors and the MOD. This role will provide you with the chance to work with the delivery of complex systems involving the latest innovative technologies, within a well-established team. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
