Salary: Up to £75,900, based on your skills and experience.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Lead a talented team of systems and software engineers, providing hands-on technical leadership and supporting the product System Design Authority.
  • Utilize Systems Engineering principles to develop innovative software-based Simulation Systems throughout the entire engineering lifecycle.
  • Engage in design tasks for Simulation Systems equipment, network architecture, and software solutions.
  • Manage requirement decomposition and specifications using tools like IBM DOORS Next.
  • Direct architectural modeling and interface definitions with tools such as CATIA Magic (Cameo).
  • Drive system integration and define acceptance strategies for software-based systems.
  • Conduct technical reviews to ensure compliance with customer, legislative, and business requirements.
Your Skills and Experiences:

We’re looking for candidates who have:

  • Proven experience in applying Systems Engineering for software-based products.
  • Expertise in Systems Engineering and Software integration lifecycle principles (ISO 15288 and 12207).
  • A strong background in requirements management (experience with IBM DOORS Next is desirable).
  • Familiarity with engineering lifecycle models (Waterfall & Agile) and tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • A background in software development and integration.
  • Technical leadership skills to guide teams across disciplines in shaping design solutions.

About the MIMESIS Product Team:

Join our Simulation and Training sector at Broad Oak Works Portsmouth, where you’ll work on our cutting-edge MIMESIS product. This innovative system simulates the maritime battlespace, accurately modeling everything from terrain to the unique capabilities of ships and submarines.

As a System Technical Lead within the MIMESIS team, you will:

  • Take technical responsibility for designing and developing new modules/content.
  • Review and approve lower-level documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team, collaborating closely with the System Design Authority.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team of around 30 systems and software engineers, shaping the future of maritime simulation through new user interface capabilities like AR/XR and leveraging emerging technologies such as AI.
