Job Title: Junior Software Engineer

Location: Prestwick - Onsite

Salary: £40,699+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Completion of allocated software requirements, detailed design and implementation

• Testing of completed functionality, both at desktop and target hardware level

• Generation of software level safety requirements and hazard analysis, supporting system certification

• Accurately reporting on progress and providing feedback to team members and leadership

• Supporting System Test and Integration Activities

• Production of appropriate technical documentation, documenting traceability between design, code and test results

• Participation in peer reviews of own and others’ work products

• Robust configuration of completed work

  Your skills and experiences:

  • Degree in a relevant STEM subject - Software Engineering, IT, Computing, Physics or Maths

  • You should have an awareness and understanding of:

    - The full software development lifecycle, from requirements & design through to delivery

    - Software development processes (e.g. design, coding, unit testing), experience of development tools (e.g. UML design tools, code IDEs)

    You should have experience in at least one of the following:

    - Embedded software C/ C++/ Ada/ Rust

    - Desktop-based applications (Java and Eclipse RCP or C/ C#/ C++)

    - Object-oriented design/ development including UML

    The Typhoon Displays & Controls Software Team:

    As a Junior Software Engineer, you will be working on world beating aircraft products, creating cutting edge software for our hardware systems and be involved in the entire lifecycle of a product, from design and development to integration. Working closely with systems and test engineers, you will enable the development of complex real-world systems that have to perform perfectly every time, as they will be used in real world combat.

    Working within a large team, this role will provide you with mentoring, support, training and guidance provided by experienced team members who will teach you how to develop software solutions that make a real difference to our customers in battlespace on a daily basis. You will learn to design, implement, maintain, debug and upgrade software products applying your academic learning into the real world.
