Job Title: Team Leader-Computing Infrastructure

Location: Warton- On Site

Salary: £54,793 - £60,326 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you'll be doing:
  • Responsible for leading a small to medium-sized team of engineers, overseeing day-to-day people management and ensuring successful delivery of key engineering products for the Typhoon programme
  • Collaborate closely with established technical leads to define, prioritise, and manage the engineering backlog, aligning work with programme milestones and strategic objectives
  • Provide clear, consistent, and effective reporting to senior internal stakeholders, ensuring visibility of progress, risks, and delivery status
  • Actively promote a culture of continuous professional development within the team, encouraging learning opportunities while ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards and best practices
    Your skills and experiences:
    • Proven experience in leading and developing engineering teams
    • Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience, including relevant professional qualifications
    • Skilled in software management methodologies such as Agile, with hands-on experience using Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence)
    • Technical experience with tools and platforms such as Microsoft Server/ Client, Linux, and Cisco
    • Understanding of enterprise IT or Operational Technology systems is beneficial, though not essential
    • Familiarity with flight simulators or synthetic training systems is advantageous but not required
    • Track record of driving continuous improvement across people, processes, and technology

      The Synthetic & Training Engineering Products Team:

      An exciting opportunity is available within the Synthetics & Engineering Products Team for an Engineer to play an integral role in the development and ongoing support of High-Fidelity Synthetic Training Devices.

      The CID team is responsible for the design, development, integration, testing, and ongoing support (including patching) of the computing infrastructure and networks that underpin the Synthetic Training Devices. This infrastructure includes a mix of operating systems, applications, and tools-some typical of standard IT environments and others more specialised. The role covers capabilities developed at Warton and also includes support for RAF bases at Coningsby and Lossiemouth, as well as international customers in Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

      We are looking for a collaborative and motivated individual with a solid technical background. You'll bring a supportive and inclusive leadership style, helping to guide and enable team members in the development and delivery of effective solutions. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with a continuous improvement mindset, will be key to success in this role.

      There may be opportunities to travel, both within the UK and internationally, in support of the training devices.
