Role

As a Data Scientist apprentice (DSD26), this is a brilliant opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute – you will:

  • Support the team in sourcing, cleaning, and preparing data for analysis and modelling.
  • Learn to use data science tools (Python, Jupyter, cloud platforms) and apply them to real BBC projects.
  • Assist in running experiments and evaluations of machine learning models, guided by senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to simple visualisations and reports that help communicate findings to the wider team.
  • Stay curious about the latest developments in AI and data science and bring fresh ideas to discussions.
  • Learn about the value of data to organisations like the BBC.
  • Discover how the BBC uses data and increasingly AI technologies to improve its connection with audiences.
  • Unlock the power of data to deliver valuable audience insights.
  • Be part of a team using data to transform the way the BBC operates. 

Training

You’ll study for your industry-recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off-the-job. This means you’ll spend at least one day a week studying for a BSc (Hons) in Data Science with BPP University remotely learning:  

  • Data Infrastructure & Tools.
  • Data Visualisation & Dashboards.
  • Data Engineering.Data Analytics.
  • Project Management.
  • Machine Learning.
  • Artificial Intelligence & Deep Learning. 

This is a fixed-term apprenticeship - your contract lasts for the duration of the scheme.

Once completed, you’ll be supported with career development, employability training, and networking opportunities to help you take your next step, whether that’s at the BBC or elsewhere in the industry.
