In house legal counsel
Are you a qualified solicitor or experienced contract manager looking to take the next step in your in-house legal career? Would you thrive in a fast-paced, people-focused technology driven environment that champions innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join the growing in-house legal team of a forward-thinking business based in Leeds.
This is a rare chance to be part of a high-growth, values-led business. As Legal Counsel, you'll play a key role in enabling the business to scale, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners across a range of commercial matters.
Joining an established high calibre legal team, you'll take ownership of a broad and varied legal portfolio-from reviewing and negotiating complex client contracts to shaping legal governance and risk frameworks across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pragmatic legal advice across the business on a variety of commercial, contractual, and compliance matters.
 - Draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial contracts, service agreements, consultancy agreements, and NDAs.
 - Support bid teams with input on legal risk, contract terms, and compliance in competitive tendering processes.
 - Help the business navigate complex legal risks and strengthen customer relationships during negotiations.
 - Maintain and update legal templates and internal policies to ensure ongoing compliance with UK law and industry best practice.
 - Deliver legal training and guidance to non-legal colleagues across the business.
 - Collaborate with external counsel where specialist input is required.
 - Support continuous improvement in legal operations, risk mitigation and internal governance structures.

What We're Looking For
- Strong experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts, ideally within the technology, consultancy or public sectors.
 - Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment.
 - Excellent legal drafting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
 - A strategic thinker with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach.
 - Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

If you're looking for a commercial legal role that offers variety, visibility, and long-term growth, we'd love to hear from you.
